Spice Street Restaurant – Authentic Indian Flavors and Inviting Dining in Silver Spring, MD

The food was okay. I tried the Palak with Dates which was good. The Pav Bhaji was bland to my taste buds. The pav was the sweet version which doesn’t go with this pav-bhaji dish. The Chole Pattice was a bit bland. Pattice/ fritters texture was great. Then I tried the dessert, the Jaggery Pua with kesar (saffron) ice cream which was unique. The chef added the ingredients of Paan ( bettle nut and gulkand) This was worth trying wven though I felt the paan ingredients were a bit overpowering, maybe toning down by 70% would be good. I might go back just to support the team working there and try some other menu items.

Spice Street has a wide ranging, excellent menu, good for vegetarians and carnivores and everyone in between. Food is prepared and served with care, and a lovely presentation. They also provide a range of spiciness level when you order - I like milder spice levels, so really appreciate this detail. There is currently Purple Line Metro construction going on around this Georgia Avenue restaurant in Silver Spring, but parking is still convenient, and Spice Street staff still manage to make the dining experience elegant, with extremely attentive service. A Friday & Sunday-only thali lunch special is a fantastic good deal with the opportunity to try various dishes. Spice Street is on the regular rotation for me and my husband for when we want a nicer meal in an attractive setting, and are willing to pay a bit more than for a quick salad or sandwich someplace else. It is still a good value, and we often have leftovers to take home. We have introduced three different sets of friends to Spice Street, and all have definitely enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I like a quieter dining experience, and have only gone to Spice Street at weekend lunch or late lunch times when it is only moderately busy, and luxuriously low volume.

We really enjoyed this place. We had chicken curry and the basil infused salmon. Both were good. Service was great. Nice location. Food was flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Very tasty food with a good variety of options. The interior is inviting and well decorated. A very nice selection of drinks with reasonably priced cocktails. Our server, Veer, gave us an exceptional customer service experience. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and patient. Our water cups never fully emptied. Highly recommend

I came with work colleagues and we really enjoyed ordering dishes to share. Great food with every dish very unique. The staff was very engaging and wanting to be of service, especially Veer, the dining room manager, who suggested dishes and what they could make mild, medium or very spicy.

We had an absolutely phenomenal meal. Our server was a very kind and attentive man named Veer. His recommendations were wise. He was exceptionally attentive with refilling our water. Our food came out quickly and that's where the true quality of Spice Street was revealed. We had Lasooni Gobi as an appetizer. It was fresh, flavorful and four pieces were enough for two. We also ordered a chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, and Garlic Naan. All of this came out at the perfect time, not too long, and not too soon after the appetizer. The flavors were stunning. Arguably some of the best Indian Food I have ever eaten. The flavors were complex and varied, not too heavy, overwhelming or flat. The rice portions were perfect, and the food design was thoughtful and smart. My partner was delighted by the little carrot "crown" that adorned the biryani. The prices were also appropriate, and we came home with a little extra food. We were also pleasantly treated to a delicious sample of their Gulab Jamun. We did not order it, and would not expect anything for free, but Veer surprised us and delighted us with this bonus. Highly recommend. We will return, likely with a bigger appetite. I was looking for Rogan Josh and despite it not being on the menu was told that the kitchen is able, and might be able to accomodate. I would only try that on a night when the restaurant was slow. Also, the space was generous, charming, romantic and clean. A really wonderful little experience. Good work Spice Street!

This was a great spot for a large family dinner. Our server Veer was attentive and patient, and gave us lots of helpful suggestions. He even brought a special sweet treat for our fussy toddler. We especially enjoyed the shrimp coconut masala, lasooni gobi (fried cauliflower), garlic naan, and mango lassi. The menu has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Gluten free items are clearly labeled as well.

We had a fantastic experience at Spice Street. Lovely and attentive service. Modern atmosphere and fun atmosphere. The food was delicious (so many delicious options) different spice levels and super tasty. We recommend it!
